A Day in the Life

Istanbul has an interesting way of dealing with problems. For instance please notice all the cars here. Basically there was a sewage problem, and neighbors were complaining. So, instead of notifying all the drivers, they just start digging. Please look at photo 2...
Do you not see a problem here??? They totally ripped up our road (these are taken from my old apartment balcony) and didn't notify ANYONE! Not one person could leave! That is ridiculous! Effeciency! Logic! or lack of logic! And then this was the best part. As it got late, the gov't put up an orange cone and laid around some "dikkat" or caution tape. Then, Then a little boy stood at the end of the gaping hole and proceeded to blow his whistle and "direct" traffic. It was soooooooooooooo annoying! His whistle pierced my brain until I ran to the balcony and yelled at him in my best teachers voice. It tooks days to fix this sewage problem and I'm sure they used shoddy material and will need to fix it again next year. For reals people.
