The Fortress

This is the Fortress of Asia, or the Anadolu Hisari built in the 14th century. It is 50 years older than its counter part, the Fortress of Europe.

Below are pictures of the Fortress of Europe, built by Mehmet the Conqueror in 1452. Pretty old, and pretty beautiful huh. It lies along the narrowest part of the Bosphorus (which is why my ferry ride is like 5 minutes) so it was a major Byzantine supply route. Any foreign ship that tried to enter Constantinople met the eye of a canon ball. Later on it became a prison for POW's. Apparently now-adays you can go to concerts here. I'm hoping to do that while I'm here, but we shall see...
